Football Recap: Muir Mustangs vs. Charter Oak Chargers
Muir and Charter Oak squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Muir had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 17-14. The Mustangs gained 76 more yards on the day, but it was the Chargers that made the best use of them.
Trey Gamble threw for 209 yards and one TD. Deveon Blaylock was his top target, picking up 96 receiving yards and one touchdown. On the ground, Zion McDonald rushed for 67 yards and one score.
It was another big night for Corin Berry, who rushed for 26 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 139 yards on 11 of 24 attempts for Charter Oak. The dominant performance also gave Berry a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two).
Muir's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-2. As for Charter Oak, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Muir does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Charter Oak, they will head out on the road to square off against San Jacinto at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
