Softball Recap: Marion County Comes Up Short

Marion County dropped their record down to 12-11 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 7-1 to the Sequatchie County Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 two weeks ago.

As for Sequatchie County, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games.

For Sequatchie County's part, Lyla Houk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

On the hitting side, Sequatchie County let Madison Fine and Ainsley Pickett run wild. Fine went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Pickett went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Fine is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalyn Kelly, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Marion County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-2 victory against Signal Mountain on the 17th. As for Sequatchie County, they have also already played their next game, a 9-1 win against Franklin County on the 17th.
