Football Game Preview: Banning Lewis Academy Stallions vs. La Junta Tigers + How To Watch

The Banning Lewis Academy Stallions will head out to face off against the La Junta Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Banning Lewis Academy is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Florence on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Stallions were dealt a 35-7 loss at the hands of the Huskies. The matchup marked the Stallions' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Sam Early and Noah Howard. Howard had a great game and rushed for 153 yards and three TDs. Meanwhile, Early did his best for the losing side, rushing for 120 yards and one score on only 15 carries.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask La Junta). They blew past Manitou Springs 63-13 on Friday. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Tigers had established a 42-point advantage.

La Junta didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Christian Armendariz and Calvin Hill.

The win made it two in a row for La Junta and bumps their season record up to 4-2. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.0 points over those games. As for Banning Lewis Academy, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-3.

Banning Lewis Academy was dealt a bruising 36-7 loss at the hands of La Junta when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Stallions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
