League recap: Halfway's Gumm delivers best pitching performance from past week

Polk County league recap: 3/27/13

Shawn Gumm was the best pitcher in Polk County this week, leading Halfway. He won one game and struck out six batters.

Devin Dickerson was on fire this week, as he led the league with a 1.000 average with four RBIs. The Cardinals went 1-0.

Halfway's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing zero hits and zero walks to lead the league in both categories.

The league boasted six .400 hitters over the past week. Leading the pack was Devin Dickerson, who hit 1.000 by going 3-for-3.

The Cardinals' Gumm led the league in strikeouts this week with six. With seven strikeouts this year so far, he ranks third in the league.



Dickerson drove in four runners on Wednesday in Halfway's 28-0 victory over Climax Springs. He went 3-for-3 and scored three runs.

The Cardinals' Nick Drake struck out 12 Walnut Grove hitters en route to a 18-0 victory on March 19. Over his five innings pitched he allowed zero runs on zero hits.
