Volleyball Recap: Appleton North Lightning vs. Pewaukee Pirates
Appleton North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the Pewaukee Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in August.
Gracie Hartjes paced Appleton North's offense, picking up five kills. Hartjes got some help from Lydia Koshuta and her four assists. Hartjes also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Ellis Brinkman, each putting up two.
Pewaukee's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lucy May, who had 15 assists and six digs. Kiley Eske was another key player, getting ten digs and two aces.
Appleton North's defeat dropped their record down to 3-32. As for Pewaukee, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-12 record this season.
Appleton North does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pewaukee, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Manitowoc Lincoln on the 12th.
