Football Game Preview: John Paul II Guardians vs. New Braunfels Christian Academy Wildcats

The John Paul II Guardians will head out to face off against the New Braunfels Christian Academy Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Friday, John Paul II lost to Hill Country Christian School of Austin at home by a 27-13 margin. The Guardians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Although John Paul II took the loss, they still got scores from Drake Kapavik and Elliott Alvaro.

Meanwhile, New Braunfels Christian Academy entered their tilt with John Paul II on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They claimed a resounding 48-7 victory over the Centurions. The Wildcats' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

A big part of New Braunfels Christian Academy's win came down to the chemistry between Brady Joseph and his top target Barrett Thornhill. Joseph threw for 140 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight passes while Thornhill picked up 117 receiving yards.

New Braunfels Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for John Paul II, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. John Paul II has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 208.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like New Braunfels Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 159 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

John Paul II took a serious blow against New Braunfels Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 65-12. Can the Guardians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
