Basketball Recap: Gaithersburg Comes Up Short

Gaithersburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 35-27 to the Quince Orchard Cougars. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 51-36 back in December of 2024.

Quince Orchard was led to victory by Evelyn Steele and Lena Wolle. Steele posted four points in addition to ten boards and eight blocks, while Wolle put up eight points and seven rebounds. That's the most rebounds Steele has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ayanna Anspach, who scored seven points and six boards.

Gaithersburg's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Quince Orchard, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-8.

Gaithersburg will take on Einstein on Friday. As for Quince Orchard, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Seneca Valley at 7:15 p.m. Seneca Valley will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Quince Orchard surely won't give up without a fight.
