Soccer Game Preview: Lamar vs. Johnson

The Lamar Texans will face off against the Johnson Jaguars at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lamar will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

Lamar's tournament run continued when they took on Midland Legacy on Friday. Lamar had just enough and edged Midland Legacy out 3-2. Given the Texans' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Rebels are ranked 212th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nahomy Portillo and Isabel Flores scored all three of Lamar's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

Meanwhile, Johnson fell victim to Lake Travis and their airtight defense on Friday. They fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 1-0.

Johnson's loss dropped their record down to 3-2-2. As for Lamar, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.
