Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jordan Vaughn and Izabella Delli Colli Lead Parkwood to Victory

Parkwood hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They enjoyed a cozy 52-35 win over the Piedmont Panthers on Friday. This was payback for the Wolf Pack, who suffered a 60-50 loss the last time these two teams met.

Leading Parkwood to victory were Izabella Delli Colli and Jordan Vaughn. Delli Colli went 6 of 13 en route to 15 points, while Vaughn posted 11 points in addition to six boards and five steals. The dominant performance also gave Delli Colli a new career-high in assists (three). Peyton Collins was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Parkwood's victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Piedmont, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Parkwood and Piedmont could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Parkwood (ranked 405th) will meet Forest Hills (ranked 138th) at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. Meanwhile, Piedmont will face off against Monroe at 6:00 p.m. on January 28th down 275 places (412 vs. 137).
