Basketball Recap: Statesboro Now 12-1 over Last 13 Games

Statesboro proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 48) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Brunswick Pirates 53-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Devils have posted since February 2, 2024.

It was another big night for Ja'Caiden Cone, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 23 points and five steals. Another player making a difference was Camdyn Wilkerson, who posted nine points and five rebounds.

Statesboro is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points per game. As for Brunswick, they moved to 16-2 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Statesboro and Brunswick should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. Statesboro (ranked 78th) will meet Lakeside (ranked 236th) at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Brunswick will take on South Effingham at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 358 places (33 vs. 391).
