Recap: Holy Cross Knights vs. Sacred Heart Academy Spartans
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Holy Cross Knights ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Sacred Heart Academy 58-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Holy Cross' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kyara Champagne led the charge by scoring 20 points along with 3 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Champagne has scored at least 25% of Holy Cross' points. Another player making a difference was Jamie Davneiro, who scored 15 points along with 8 assists and 5 rebounds.
Holy Cross now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Sacred Heart Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Holy Cross will head out on the road to face off against St. John's Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sacred Heart Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Moore Catholic at 1:30 p.m. on December 23rd.
