Sweetwater and Mar Vista are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Red Devils are taking a road trip to take on the Mariners at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Sweetwater barely beat Castle Park the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Red Devils put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 18-1 win on Monday. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Jayden Rodriguez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-6 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Sweetwater: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 7-15 otherwise.

In other batting news, Sweetwater got a massive performance out of Miguel Betancourt, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one run. Those five RBI gave Betancourt a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrian Solis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs.
Sweetwater kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.
Mar Vista came out on top against Southwest SD on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Mariners skirted past the Raiders 7-6. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 29, 2025, but that streak is no more.
Mar Vista saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was ANTHONY PEREZ, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. JAYDEN FORREST-CAYETANO was another, earning one RBI and two runs.
Sweetwater's record now sits at 10-15. As for Mar Vista, their record is now 14-12.
Sweetwater came up short against Mar Vista in their previous meeting back in April, falling 4-1. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
