Basketball Recap: Alexander Central Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

With a playoff win on the line, Alexander Central rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They walked away with a 63-56 win over the Porter Ridge Pirates.

Meredith Wike continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 24 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Faith Burch, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 boards.

Alexander Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They are 12-6 when they hit their own glass that hard.

Porter Ridge's loss came despite strong showings from Kali Williams and Ashanti Taylor. Williams went 8-for-16 en route to 22 points and seven rebounds, while Taylor dropped a double-double with 17 points and 11 boards. Taylor's evening made it 27 games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Giarla, who posted eight points and five assists.

Alexander Central's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-11. As for Porter Ridge, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-9.

Coming up, Alexander Central will take on McDowell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. McDowell will roll in looking for their 28th straight win, something Alexander Central surely won't give up without a fight. Porter Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
