Recap: Independence Patriots vs. Greater Beckley Christian Crusaders
The Independence Patriots can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 81-80 photo finish over Greater Beckley Christian. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Averyk Woodson, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Woodson has scored all season. Aaron Hall was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds.
Independence's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Greater Beckley Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Independence's road trip will continue as they head out to face West Logan Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 15th. Greater Beckley Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Covenant Christian on January 13th.
