Softball Recap: Shea Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Shea barely beat Hope the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pawtucket's pitcher stepped up to hand the Blue Wave a 17-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Pawtucket might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 13 runs or more this season.

Taylor Kane made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, Gianna Quinones was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Genesis Morales, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Shea always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory keeps Shea at an undefeated 4-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 18.3 runs this season. As for Hope, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Shea will venture away from home to challenge Narragansett at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Mariners have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.43 runs per game on average), something the Pawtucket will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hope, they will challenge Mt. Pleasant at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
