Baseball Recap: West Lincoln Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but West Lincoln ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Loyd Star Hornets 13-12. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-5 last Tuesday.

Taylor Myers made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Myers was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBI.

In other batting news, West Lincoln let Fisher Holcomb and Caden Seay run wild. Holcomb scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Seay went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. West Lincoln is undefeated when Seay posts two or more runs, but 6-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Robert Waldrop, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

West Lincoln kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

West Lincoln's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-9. As for Loyd Star, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Hornets beat West Lincoln by a score of 10-5 later that day.
