Basketball Recap: Owsley County Comes Up Short

Owsley County lost to Powell County back in February of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Owls / Lady Owls lost 84-62 to the Pirates. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (61), the Owls / Lady Owls still had to take the loss.

Owsley County has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Powell County, they pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Owsley County will square off against Lee County at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The Owls / Lady Owls will be up against the Bobcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 75.31 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Powell County, they will take on Wolfe County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
