Baseball Recap: Cedar Valley Comes Up Short

Cedar Valley extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 6-9 in the process. They took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Springville Red Devils. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Aviators of the 8-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Brody Blodgett was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Cedar Valley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 4-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Ashton Pincock, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

As for Springville, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-11. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Springville's side, they got a massive performance out of Easton Van Sickle, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases and three RBI. Those four hits gave Van Sickle a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Liddiard, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.

While Cedar Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
