Softball Recap: Walker Wins Going Away Against Coosa

Walker's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They put the hurt on the Coosa Eagles with a sharp 13-1 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Wolverines needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Lily Brevick made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Brevick was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reese Dege, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaila Figueiredo, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Walker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coosa only posted an OBP of .250.

The win got Walker back to even at 1-1. As for Coosa, they are on a 23-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walker will head out to square off against Marietta at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Coosa, they will take on Model at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
