Basketball Recap: Ben Davis Giants vs. Decatur Central Hawks
With a playoff game on the line, the Ben Davis Giants rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They blew past the Hawks, posting a 66-39 win on the road. The win was a breath of fresh air for Ben Davis as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Ben Davis found their leader in underclassman Alonna Divine, who scored 14 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Divine continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Zoe Wheeler was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Ben Davis' victory bumped their record up to 6-17. As for Decatur Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.
Ben Davis will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Flashes at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Franklin Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Giants in Indiana (the Flashes are ranked 29th, while the Giants are ranked 127th). Decatur Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
