Soccer Recap: Poteau Comes Up Short

Poteau was the 2-0 winner over Wagoner when they last played one another back in March of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Poteau Pirates took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wagoner Bulldogs on Friday.

Poteau's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Wagoner, they moved to 1-4 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Poteau will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on McAlester at 7:30 p.m. on March 25th. McAlester will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Poteau surely won't give up without a fight. Wagoner will also get a bit of a break before their next matchup: they'll face off against Glenpool at 8:00 p.m. on March 25th. Wagoner will be up against Glenpool's rather soft defense (which has allowed 2.83 goals per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
