Preview: Ysleta Indians vs. Bel Air Highlanders
Ysleta is 0-10 against Bel Air since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Ysleta Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Bel Air Highlanders at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Ysleta focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday.
Ysleta posted their closest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Parkland 38-35. The victory was just what Ysleta needed coming off of a 54-32 defeat in their prior matchup.
Mary Raygoza and Jesscia Jasso were among the main playmakers for Ysleta as the former scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks and the latter scored 18 points along with five steals. That's the first time this season that Raygoza posted two or more blocks.
Meanwhile, Bel Air unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 65-39 loss at the hands of Hanks. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Bel Air has suffered yet this season.
Despite the loss, Bel Air saw an underclassman step up: Jayde Martinez scored 15 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Adalyn Palomo, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Ysleta's victory bumped their record up to 10-17. As for Bel Air, their loss ended a 16-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-4.
Ysleta came up short against Bel Air when the teams last played on January 9th, falling 34-26. Can Ysleta avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
