Softball Preview: Morrow Mustangs vs. Drew
The Morrow Mustangs are taking a road trip to take on Drew at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Morrow will be strutting in after a win while Drew will be coming in after a defeat.
Morrow is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Langston Hughes by a score of 16-12 on Wednesday.
Morrow got a massive performance out of Jerbria Twillie, who scored two runs and stole seven bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Seivyn Fletcher, who scored four runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-4.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Morrow kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in September of 2023.
Meanwhile, Drew was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 47th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Mt. Zion, falling 16-3.
Morrow's victory bumped their record up to 2-11. As for Drew, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-23.
Morrow took their win against Drew in their previous matchup back in October of 2023 by a conclusive 15-5. Does Morrow have another victory up their sleeve, or will Drew turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
