Volleyball Recap: St. Joseph Catholic Comes Up Short

St. Joseph Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to the Hartfield Academy Hawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bruins of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-14, 23-25, 25-10.

Bella Vega was the offensive standout of the contest as she had 21 assists and four digs. That's the most assists she has posted since back in October of 2024. Starlee Weir also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

St. Joseph Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Hartfield Academy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-2.

St. Joseph Catholic will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Jackson Prep at 6:00 p.m. on the 18th. As for Hartfield Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Jackson Academy at 6:30 p.m.
