Baseball Game Preview: Bayside Commodores vs. Francis Lewis Patriots

The Bayside Commodores will face off against the Francis Lewis Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Bayside is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Richmond Hill just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost 7-1 to the Lions.

Meanwhile, Francis Lewis waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Judges by a score of 4-1.

Michael Alba spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 13 Ks.

On the hitting side, Francis Lewis saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Young, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Young a new career-high. Gustavo Perez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Francis Lewis' win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Bayside, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Bayside came out on top in a nail-biter against Francis Lewis when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Will the Commodores repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
