Mountain View is a perfect 6-0 against Fremont since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Spartans will head out to challenge the Firebirds at 11:00 a.m.

On Friday, Mountain View came up short against Palo Alto and fell 9-4. The loss continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost four in a row.

Mountain View got a good showing from Jackson Blake, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Mountain View saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Stephenson, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Those hits were Stephenson's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Fremont waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Matadors by a score of 8-3. Eight seems to be a good number for the Firebirds as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Fremont's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain View, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-11.

Mountain View was able to grind out a solid victory over Fremont in their previous matchup back in March of 2019, winning 6-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
