Softball Recap: Stone Finds Home Field Redemption Against Laurel

There's no place like home for Stone, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They never let the Laurel Golden Tornadoes get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Monday. The Tomcats haven't had any issues with the Golden Tornadoes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Emalynn Gibson looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, Stone got a massive performance out of Mattie Gibson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Laila Bullen, who scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Stone hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Stone's victory bumped their record up to 15-9. As for Laurel, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

Stone has already played their next game (against Greene County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Laurel, they will host Vancleave at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
