Softball Recap: Americas Finds Playoff Glory Versus El Paso

It's playoff time, and Americas had no trouble coming through when it counted. They never let the El Paso Tigers get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Trail Blazers, who have now won 17 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Zoe O'Hara made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Miley Rodriguez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Isabelle Garcia, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Americas is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-15 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for El Paso, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-21.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Americas beat the Tigers by a score of 11-1 on Friday.
