Basketball Recap: Bear River Comes Up Short

Bear River lost against Ridgeline back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Bear River Bears were outmatched by the Ridgeline Riverhawks and fell 58-31. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Riverhawks are ranked first).

Bear River lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brooklyn Capener, who posted ten points. Saydee Pebley was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.

Ridgeline's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Makaydi Jenks led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten assists. Jenks is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Abby Munford, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards.

Bear River is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17. As for Ridgeline, the win keeps them at an undefeated 23-0.

Bear River has already played their next matchup, a 52-15 victory against Logan on the 6th. As for Ridgeline, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-29 win against Mountain Crest on the 6th.
