Volleyball Recap: Highlands Ranch Starts Season with Loss at Home

Highlands Ranch unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Denver South Ravens by a score of 3-2 on Friday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it nine in a row.

Highlands Ranch took Denver South into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking four-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-11, 25-14, 25-27, 15-11.

Highlands Ranch's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Diego Contreras, who had nine digs and three assists.

Denver South's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-0.

Coming up, Highlands Ranch will head out to square off against Regis Groff at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Denver South, they will be playing at home against Poudre at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
