Baseball Recap: Northlake Christian Beats Hammond for Their Fifth Straight Win

Northlake Christian put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their undefeated season alive. They never let the Hammond Tornadoes onto the board and left with a 10-0 win. With that victory, the Wolverines brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

Stew Covey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Northlake Christian got a massive performance out of Luke McAdams, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave McAdams a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnathon Lee, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Northlake Christian's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Hammond, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northlake Christian will challenge Pine at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Northlake Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 0.5 runs per game this season, so Pine's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hammond, they will face off against South Terrebonne at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
