Basketball Recap: Mynderse Academy's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Mynderse Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Newark Reds, sneaking past 65-62. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Blue Devils were down 36-21 in the second quarter.

The win (which was Mynderse Academy's fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points over those games. As for Newark, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Looking ahead, Mynderse Academy will host Penn Yan Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Newark, they are taking a road trip to take on Palmyra-Macedon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Newark knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Palmyra-Macedon likes a good challenge.
