Baseball Game Preview: Covington Buccs vs. Lehman Catholic Cavaliers

The Covington Buccs will challenge the Lehman Catholic Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Covington took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Milton-Union, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Buccs' pitchers stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 1-0 shutout on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Buccs have posted against the Bulldogs since April 7, 2022.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday Lehman Catholic sidestepped Catholic Central for a 6-4 victory.

Covington has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Lehman Catholic, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-6.

Covington skirted past Lehman Catholic 3-2 when the teams last played back in April. Will the Buccs repeat their success, or do the Cavaliers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
