The Pomona Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Thunderbird Titans at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Pomona is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Pomona fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Dobson on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 16-15. Dalton Hanson stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Brycen Hanners, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Thunderbird waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Vikings and snuck past 3-1.
Chase Benson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Benson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with a stolen base and an RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.
In other pitching news, Patrick Ramon looked comfortable as he tossed an inning while giving up no earned runs off two hits (he also didn't allow any walks). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive pitching appearances.
Back at the plate, Noah Andersen was incredible, going 2-for-2 with two runs, a triple, and a double.
Pomona now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Thunderbird, their record now sits at 6-7.
