Basketball Recap: Denbigh Triumphs

Denbigh hadn't done well against Kecoughtan recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Denbigh Patriots snuck past the Kecoughtan Warriors with a 62-57 win. While the Patriots didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Despite the loss, Kecoughtan still got an impressive performance from Caleb Mathews, who went 10 for 18 on his way to 27 points. The dominant performance gave Mathews a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Dryden, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Denbigh and bumps their season record up to 6-4. As for Kecoughtan, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.

Denbigh has already played their next contest, a 65-58 win against Menchville on the 14th. As for Kecoughtan, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 83-78 victory against Heritage on the 14th.
