Baseball Recap: Midland Comes Up Short

Midland extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 10-7. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Traverse City Central Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-4 on Friday.

As for Traverse City Central, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.

For Traverse City Central's part, Lucas Dorman looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Traverse City Central's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jack Dewey, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Wyatt Olmstead was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Coming up, Midland will square off against Mt. Pleasant at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Traverse City Central, they will host Sault Area at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
