Preview: Redbank Valley Bulldogs vs. Cambridge Springs Devils
Redbank Valley has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Cambridge Springs Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Redbank Valley rose to the challenge on Friday. They strolled past the Gators with points to spare, taking the game 26-7.
Redbank Valley's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jaxon Huffman, who threw for 344 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 15.6 yards per attempt, and Ashton Kahle, who picked up 249 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Kahle's longest reception was for an incredible 81 yards.
Meanwhile, Cambridge Springs came tearing into Saturday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 32-29 win over Lakeview. Cambridge Springs' win was all the more impressive since Lakeview was averaging only 16.08 points allowed on the season.
Cambridge Springs got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brandon Hoover out in front who picked up 41 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Preston Gorton was another key contributor, rushing for 70 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Redbank Valley's victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Cambridge Springs, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as the two teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Redbank Valley commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 6.5 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Cambridge Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.7 per game.
