Baseball Recap: Durand/Pecatonica Comes Up Short

Durand/Pecatonica extended their losing streak to seven on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-13 in the process. They lost 15-8 to the Pearl City Wolves. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rivermen of the 7-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Pearl City, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-7. Considering they have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Pearl City's part, Parker Allen was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, Allen posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Pearl City is undefeated when Allen posts two or more runs, but 4-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kip Martens, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Myles Freedlund, who went 2-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.

While Durand/Pecatonica had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
