Softball Recap: Midland Park Triumphs

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Midland Park ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Lyndhurst Golden Bears by a score of 14-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their one-run performance the game before.

Ava Romano tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, Midland Park let Abigail Kuhnel and Heidi Marcus run wild. Kuhnel fired off three doubles, two runs, and one triple while going 4-for-6, while Marcus went 4-for-6 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Olivia Valladares was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

Midland Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Midland Park's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Lyndhurst, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Midland Park will square off against Teaneck at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Lyndhurst, they are taking a road trip to challenge Harrison at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
