Baseball Recap: Madison Takes a Loss

Madison had taken Jefferson Area down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Blue Streaks fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-2 on Tuesday.

Eddy Gvora was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Gvora wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Yarnell, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI. Evan Smith also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Madison has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Jefferson Area, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.

While Madison had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
