Basketball Game Preview: Memphis East Mustangs vs. Collierville Dragons

The Memphis East Mustangs will venture away from home to challenge the Collierville Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Monday, Memphis East came up short against Overton and fell 64-57.

Meanwhile, Collierville and Bartlett squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Collierville had to settle for second. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to the Panthers.

Memphis East will have to keep a close watch on Jekhyra Rodgers and Ehi Aigbomian, a pair of players who had a big impact on Collierville's prior game. Rodgers posted 16 points in addition to seven boards and six steals, while Aigbomian almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds. Aigbomian is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Bailey Thornton, who earned nine points and seven boards.

Collierville's loss dropped their record down to 26-6. As for Memphis East, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-7.

Memphis East was able to grind out a solid victory over Collierville in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 68-61. Does Memphis East have another victory up their sleeve, or will Collierville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
