Baseball Recap: Union Academy Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

While Union Academy put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for South Stanly. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Rowdy Rebel Bulls with a sharp 9-0 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cardinals as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

The result came thanks to Brett Moore's shutout, as he gave up just three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aiden Mills, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Union Academy is undefeated when Mills posts two or more runs, but 2-12 otherwise. Beckett Gurian was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Union Academy's record now sits at 7-12. As for South Stanly, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-5.

Looking ahead, Union Academy will challenge Corvian Community at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for South Stanly, they will face off against Cherryville at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. The Rowdy Rebel Bulls' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Ironmen have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
