Basketball Game Preview: Lejeune Devilpups vs. Swansboro Pirates

The Lejeune Devilpups will venture away from home to face off against the Swansboro Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Lejeune can't be too happy about their upcoming road contest considering what happened when they opened their season away from home on Wednesday. The game between the Devilpups and Dixon didn't end well, with the Devilpups falling 72-54.

Meanwhile, Swansboro gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They walked away with a 59-52 victory over Ashley.

Lejeune better keep an eye on Fletcher Panos. He was instrumental in Swansboro's win, shooting 58% from the field to rack up 18 points and four steals. Those 18 points gave Panos a new career-high. Connor May was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Swansboro was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They racked up seven more assists than Ashley's also-impressive total of ten.

Lejeune took a serious blow against Swansboro in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 94-47. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Devilpups were down 51-26.
