Baseball Recap: Curtis Starts Season with Win Against Kentwood

Curtis had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past the Kentwood Conquerors 16-3. That's more bragging rights for the Vikings, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Bradley Dinelt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Dinelt was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Harlan Carrillo was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Cooper Hordyk, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Kentwood's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Curtis has already played their next matchup, a 6-1 win against Timberline on the 17th. As for Kentwood, they will head out on the road to square off against Rogers at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
