Basketball Recap: Eastern Comes Up Short

Eastern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 81-39 loss at the hands of the Silver Creek Dragons. While losing is never fun, the Musketeers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while the Dragons are ranked 14th).

Dane Caldwell was his usual excellent self, going 8 of 10 on his way to 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals for Silver Creek. Caldwell's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dane Sprigler, who posted ten points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Eastern's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Silver Creek, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastern has already played their next match (against Charlestown), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Silver Creek will square off against New Albany at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. New Albany will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Silver Creek surely won't give up without a fight.
