Baseball Recap: Garrett Railroaders vs. Fremont Eagles

Garrett was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 7-3 to the Fremont Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Railroaders of the 4-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Lucas Collins was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Collins wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Parker Skelly, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

Garrett's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Fremont, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
