Softball Recap: Colleton Prep Academy Extends Winning Streak to Three

Colleton Prep Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Dorchester Academy Raiders by a score of 8-3. This was a revenge game for the War Hawks: when they faced off against the Raiders back in March, they had to take a 5-4 loss.

Sydney Stivender made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Murray, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elena Mathis, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Colleton Prep Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Colleton Prep Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Dorchester Academy, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. The Rebels have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15 runs per game on average), something the War Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
