Basketball Game Preview: Goodrich Hornets vs. High Island Cardinals

Goodrich and High Island are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Goodrich Hornets will face off against the High Island Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither of these teams found much success offensively their last time out, scoring well below their season average.

Goodrich is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Brookeland on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Goodrich was beaten by Brookeland 72-14. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Meanwhile, High Island was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They took a 41-25 bruising from Spurger.

High Island's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Goodrich, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-15.

Goodrich strolled past High Island when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 42-25. The rematch might be a little tougher for Goodrich since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
