Recap: Coal City Coalers vs. Manteno Panthers

The Coal City Coalers won the last time they faced the Manteno Panthers, and things went their way on Friday too. Coal City blew past Manteno 34-14. The result was nothing new for Coal City, who have now won seven contests by 20 points or more so far this season.

Porter Chandler and Ashton Brazeau, Manteno certainly did their beston Friday to try and avoid the loss. Chandler picked up 122 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Brazeau picked up 89 receiving yards and a touchdown. Chandler's longest reception was for an incredible 76 yards.

Coal City's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-7 Lisle and 2-7 Herscher (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 29.2% over those games). As for Manteno, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-5.

Coal City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Manteno will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Wilmington at 7:00 p.m. on September 13, 2024. Wilmington will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
