Softball Recap: Highlands Christian Sets Scoring Season-High Against Berean Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Highlands Christian). They put the hurt on the Berean Christian Bulldogs with a sharp 25-15 victory on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Knights: when they faced off against the Bulldogs back in March, they had to take a 23-13 loss.

Highlands Christian got a massive performance out of Gianna Bautista, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Bautista a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Samantha Hopkins, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Highlands Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .795. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win (which was Highlands Christian's third in a row) raised their record to 5-9. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.0 runs over those games. As for Berean Christian, they dropped their record down to 7-9 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highlands Christian will host Dr. Joaquin Garcia at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Berean Christian, they will be playing at home against Boca Raton Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are facing the Blazers at the right time seeing as the Blazers are stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
